The Sagrada Familia is one of the most important places in Barcelona, being an icon started by Gaudí that represents the whole place. It is so important that thousands and thousands of tourists visit it every day to take a picture there.
From Equity Point Barcelona we will go a little deeper into this very special monument.
The construction of the same one would be carried out in 1882, standing out for its neo-Gothic style. However, in just one year this project would change hands, reaching those of Gaudí, who would change it completely.
Gaudí wanted to create a temple of 18 towers, although in his entire life he could only create the first one.
At this moment the project is unfinished, but along the plans he left, you can find all the necessary indications how to carry it out accurately. Little by little, and with the financial support of different entities, the project is moving forward.
If you’re thinking of doing a day trips in the city, don’t forget to have a look at this building.
To date, only 8 out of the 18 towers that were initially proposed have been created. In the original plan, 12 of these towers should refer to the apostles, 1 to Jesus, 1 to the Virgin Mary and 4 to the Evangelists. Another of the particularities of each one of them is that their size should be different and this height would be related to the importance of the deity with which they are associated.
It has 3 facades: The Nativity façade, The Passion façade and The Glory façade and each one of them has a special meaning that adapts to suffering, death, hell, etc.
In order to understand all its details, it is recommended to hire a guide.
Don’t forget all these places and make the most of your visit!
