All the products served at the hostels are bought locally even though they may be very similar between hostels. So at Equity Point New York’s free breakfast we serve fruit cereals, café, milk, infusions, juice, butter and Jelly. We also have some products that are only available at Equity Point New York breakfast like bagels –a New York classic- and cream cheese.
You can toast your bread or bagels at all our hostels. And we also have a bagel cutter that sometimes amazes non Americans who haven’t seen one before.
One of Equity Point Hostel’s signatures is that we serve a basic free breakfast at all our hostels. The content of this breakfast may vary depending on the kind of food that’s available at each country and also may slightly fluctuate seasonally.
Many people ask us about what’s included at our breakfast so we’ve decided to start a series of posts with pictures of those meals. And today we will start for Equity Point Lisboa’s breakfast which includes: coffee, milk, tea, juices, cereals, bread, jam, butter, chocolate cream and fruit.
I’ve felt the need to explain my Italian adventure. I leave my home in Barcelona a bit scared, because my flight company is totally unknown to me. They don’t even have a website, you cannot check in online and no one has ever heard of them. Surprisingly we leave on time, the male flight attendants are extremely cute, and we are offered orange juice and cookies for free. I feel lucky.
In the plane, I run into a friend of my best friend and he asks to take me out for dinner once we land in the beautiful Italian city because he is there all alone. I’m quite smart and I find the way to escape from that dinner. I feel lucky. I arrive at the hotel and they inform me that tonight is the only day in the year that the museums are open at night and the entrance is free. So I just throw my things in the room and I leave immediately. I buy myself a portion of pizza for dinner and I head to some of the most beautiful museums not only in Italy but in the world. I’ve promised my colleague Maria that I will buy some pasta for her. Her kids love the huge macaroni that you can buy in Italy so I’ve bought macaroni compulsively. I feel lucky. I get back to the hotel around 2AM, tired but happy. When I get in the bathroom I realize that the shower and WC are at the same place. Uhmmmmmmm! As I feel lucky I think that with some planning in the morning, first WC and then shower, I’ll be able to do everything without a problem, after all… I’m feeling lucky. Continue reading →

Today 43 years ago history changed and when the police got in to the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar, to arrest all the men just for being gay. For the first time, instead of running away, those men confronted the police so it was the police the one who had to run. The next days the riots were all over New York and it was the beginning of the gay movement as we know it.
So now, every year every city in the world has its own parties to commemorate that day. Here are some of the most important parties at the cities that Equity Point has hostels: Continue reading →
Last week we were proud to inaugurate Equity Point New York Hostel. To such an important event we brought the group Castellers de Vilafranca to Manhattan. They built several Human Towers all over New York including one at our hostel at Times Square, as you can see in the video.
At the official event we heard the speeches of Artur Mas the President of Catalonia –-Equity Point Hostels homeland–; Mike Kelley, Independence Point President; and our CEO Oriol Badia.
We’ve worked really hard to have a hostel in New York in such a great location as it is Time Square. And soon we will have some more hostels all around the United States of America. Stay tuned to be the first to know where the new Equity Point Hostels will be! Continue reading →

The romantic legend of St George slaying the dragon, and presenting his adored princess with a red rose which sprang from the blood of the beast has inspired the most romantic day of the Catalan calendar, rivalling St Valentine’s Day. Gifts exchanged between sweethearts, traditionally roses, is tradition in Catalonia, where Equity Point was born.
Exchanging books is also traditional, which springs from the celebration of the deaths of distinguished authors Miguel Cervantes and Shakespeare on the 23rd of April.
Equity Point would like to share with you this day in all our hostels offering free roses to all our guests.
