Today 43 years ago history changed and when the police got in to the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar, to arrest all the men just for being gay. For the first time, instead of running away, those men confronted the police so it was the police the one who had to run. The next days the riots were all over New York and it was the beginning of the gay movement as we know it.

Last week we were proud to inaugurate Equity Point New York Hostel. To such an important event we brought the group Castellers de Vilafranca to Manhattan. They built several Human Towers all over New York including one at our hostel at Times Square, as you can see in the video.
At the official event we heard the speeches of Artur Mas the President of Catalonia –-Equity Point Hostels homeland–; Mike Kelley, Independence Point President; and our CEO Oriol Badia.
We’ve worked really hard to have a hostel in New York in such a great location as it is Time Square. And soon we will have some more hostels all around the United States of America. Stay tuned to be the first to know where the new Equity Point Hostels will be! Continue reading →
Today starts the II Girona New Orleans Week, so during three days “Cassidy And The Orleans Kids” will be playing live in the city. Today and tomorrow they will be doing live concerts at La Rambla, while on June 15th they will do a special concert at Sunset Jazz Club.
During all June Lisbon will be celebrating the biggest city street parties with exhibitions, cinema, theater plays, concerts and whatever you may imagine. If you want to enjoy Lisbon on its biggest yearly time you only have to come to visit us at Equity Point Lisboa. We are really close to most of Festas de Lisboa events.
The biggest event will take place on June 12th. Lisbon gets crowded and the streets got full of sardines, bread and wine, and we will also cook our own sardines at Equity Point Lisboa. But there’s not only food, there’s also a competition between historical neighborhoods with “Marchas Populares”, so everybody prepares original costumes, music and dances.
We will officially inaugurate Equity Point New York Hostel in Times Square this June, even though it’s been opened since November. But by the end of the month it will be completely refurbished.
In the inauguration we will have the Castellers de Vilafranca (a Catalan Human Tower group) as our guests and they will perform some Human Towers in front of Equity Point New York, so everybody will be able to get there and watch them.
You can get to Equity Point New York to watch the spectacle on June 22nd at 9am. We will be waiting for you!! Continue reading →
